Mihovil Budanko

Mihovil Budanko is one of those people who do not speak about their homeland as a tourist destination, but as a place they have returned to with all their heart. Born in Knin and raised in Zagreb, life eventually brought him back to where it all began—back to the rivers, mountains, stone landscapes, and quiet beauty of the Dalmatian Hinterland. While many sought opportunities in larger cities, Mihovil chose a different path. He returned home. Not because he had to, but because he believed in his region and in himself. Today, through his outdoor world, he presents a different side of Knin, a town of seven rivers, nine mountains, powerful natural beauty, and a sense of freedom felt in every step. With him, Dinara is not just a mountain, the Krka is not just a river, and the Krčić is not merely a waterfall. Each becomes part of a personal story, one that naturally evolved into his life’s calling. Through Guide Me, Mihovil does not simply guide people through places; he guides them toward a reconnection with nature and with themselves. His routes were not created from tourist brochures, but from early morning ascents, kayaking adventures, conversations with local people, and a genuine love for a region that has preserved its authenticity. He belongs to a generation that demonstrates how the Dalmatian Hinterland is not a place of the past, but a place of new ideas, new lives, and fresh inspiration. Today, Knin is becoming an increasingly recognized outdoor destination in Croatia thanks to enthusiasts like Mihovil and his colleagues, people whose work, energy, and vision are restoring the city to the place it deserves among the most exciting destinations for adventurers and nature lovers. Mihovil leads us to places where nature still speaks louder than the noise of the modern world. He takes us into a Knin region you have never seen before. And that is precisely why his story belongs here.

  • The enchanting Krčić River Canyon

The Krčić River Canyon is, without competition, my favorite area in and around Knin. This is a place that can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or even by car, but it is most often experienced in the simplest and best possible way: walking. We walk through the canyon, run along its trails, guide tours here, and spend our free time in this remarkable landscape, often without any specific plan, simply because of the feeling it provides.
