One of the most important monuments of medieval fortification architecture in Dalmatia
The medieval fortress Trošenj is located on a high gorge on the right bank of the Krka river, opposite the Nečven fortress. Trošenj was built by the noble Šubić family in the 14th century for the purpose of monitoring the strategically important bridge over the Krka River. Both fortresses, Trošenj and Nečven, were built at almost the same altitude, the first at 243, the second at 242 m.
Today, Trošenja can be reached via the village of Čučeva, on a footpath from the direction of Kistanja.
