Spring of Life - a fountain symbolizing the power of art and a history that inspires
The Fountain Spring of Life, created by Ivan Meštrović, was originally commissioned for the Wittgenstein Palace in Vienna. It was placed in the palace atrium and survived the bombings of World War II. After the war, the Wittgenstein family sold it, and Meštrović purchased it to bring it to his hometown of Drniš. Meštrović wanted one of his first works to be placed in a prominent location, and the fountain was set in the Drniš town park. This monumental fountain is known for its symbolism of life and its powerful artistic expression. It’s worth visiting due to its historical significance and artistic beauty, which continues to inspire visitors.
