The Ključica fortress was built on an uneven, steep cliff on the bank of the Čikola river. It is located in a place where a narrow, steep and rocky canyon opens into a wide, green valley and forms one of the most impressive panoramic views in the area of the Krka National Park. Therefore, we definitely recommend it to lovers of nature, hiking and outdoor activities.
It is located in a natural environment, outside the usual tourist routes. It takes a little effort and planning to visit it. The location can be reached by gravel road, by car or bicycle. After heavy rains, the gravel road can be partially impassable for cars with lower chassis. The last section of the path to the viewpoint is best crossed on foot (approx. 5 minutes). We definitely recommend that you wear hiking shoes and bring enough water. Once you reach the viewpoint, you will be greeted by one of the most beautiful views in the national park and the satisfied feeling that the effort really paid off.
After the viewpoint, the macadam road descends into the valley and leads to the Torak lake/spring and beyond, to the confluence of the Čikola and Krka rivers. An ideal route for cycling through nature.
There is no built path to the fortress itself.
