One of the most important monuments of medieval fortification architecture in Dalmatia
The Nečven fortress was built at the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th century, above the left bank of the Krka river on the northwest side of the village of Nečven. It was built at the place where the road crosses the river Krka, between the historical properties of Šubić and Nelipić families. At that point, merchants and travelers were charged a bridge toll for crossing the river, which brought a lot of income to both families.
From Nečven there is a beautiful view of the Krka river canyon and the Trošenj fortress that guards the opposite shore.
