City park
The Robert Visiani Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Dalmatia, blending garden culture with the natural landscape. Established around 1895, it is located in the city center between Poljana Square and the Šibenik waterfront. It was named after Roberto de Visiani (1800-1878) - botanist, naturalist and scholar from Šibenik. He is seen as one of the fathers of modern botany in Italy and the author of the first botanic encyclopedia of Dalmatian flora.
The park underwent a thorough renovation in 1995, during which predominantly Mediterranean plants were introduced. It is particularly enchanting during Advent when the Šibenik Christmas market takes place there. In summer, it offers refreshing shade and a pleasant break from sightseeing. At the park's entrance stands a monument to King Petar Krešimir IV, during whose reign Šibenik was first mentioned in 1066.
