St. John's Fortress is the largest fortress in Šibenik. It was built in 1646 in just 58 days as the main point of the new defense system immediately before the great attack of the Ottoman army. The renovation of the fortress was completed in 2022, when the walls were completely renovated and new facilities were introduced. The modern underground educational campus is particularly attractive.
During the summer months you can enjoy refreshments at the bar located on the top known as the "star" of the fortress, and next to the bar there is also a souvenir shop located in the former gunpowder store.
We suggest that you come to the Fortress during the "golden hour" and witness the enchanting sunset from the highest Šibenik fortress, with a view of the city, the sea and the islands.
