History, culture, and faith in one monument.
The Church of St. Anthony of Padua stands on historic ground, with its origins tracing back to the Ottoman rule. Built in the mid-16th century as a mosque, it was transformed into the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary at the end of the 17th century and later became the Church of St. Anthony. Over time, the church has been extended several times, and in 1907, a new presbytery was added. Despite these changes, the central part of the church retains its original construction with a semi-dome vaulted ceiling. The interior preserves original Moorish-style ornaments, along with the original windows, a stone crown, and bricked-up doors at the façade. Restored after the Homeland War, the church is now a protected cultural monument and a symbol of rich history.
