Just a hundred meters downstream from the first hydroelectric power plant, HE Krka, Ante Šupuk built the second, HE Jaruga, in 1904, which is still in operation today, after being upgraded with additional turbines in 1936. Construction began in 1901 when SUFID signed an agreement with the company Ante Šupuk & Son to build the new plant, initially serving to power the carbide factory in Crnica. Over time, HE Jaruga underwent numerous reconstructions and today remains a crucial part of Croatia's energy system.
