Family trips are always more than just a holiday – they’re moments that bring you closer, create memories, and spark new shared stories.
In the relaxed rhythm of travel, families not only discover new places, but also get to know each other in a new, special way. That’s why every trip taken together becomes a cherished memory.
The Šibenik-Knin region will make your time together truly special – offering you the chance to have fun, explore, and discover new places, beaches, fortresses, islands, and people – all with a touch of wilderness and adrenaline.

Šibenik-Knin County is home to as many as 14 medieval fortresses and fortifications.
Four of them guard the city of Šibenik itself – one from the sea and three from the land. The magnificent St. Nicholas’ Fortress is even inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
All fortresses are open to visitors and offer multimedia exhibits, augmented reality (AR) tours, stunning viewpoints, and themed playgrounds for children – like the one at Barone Fortress. These sites are must-visit stops for enjoying breathtaking panoramas and make for perfect family photo opportunities.

We recommend: Don’t miss a visit to the Knin Fortress – one of the largest historical fortifications in Croatia and the second-largest military fortification in Europe! Impressive, powerful, and remarkably well-preserved.

The Šibenik archipelago hides islands where summer becomes a lifelong memory – free of cars and crowds, but full of the sea, play, laughter, and first adventures. In the safe embrace of beaches and hidden coves, children catch their first fish, make new friends, and families enjoy the simple joy of being together – because nowhere is summer quite like on an island.
Don’t worry – these islands also offer educational content that’s still fun!
That’s why we recommend visiting the island of Prvić and the Faust Vrančić Memorial Center, the island of Zlarin with its Coral Museum, and the island of Krapanj with the Sponge Museum. For a sense of complete freedom and an island that is a museum of history in itself, set sail for the most remote of them all – Žirje Island.

Krka National Park is a must-visit destination – and beyond its majestic waterfalls, ethno museums, and scenic trails, it hides a special spot for pure fun: Roški Slap.
Here, you can cool off by swimming in the river and experience the unique feeling of a natural jacuzzi. Enjoy local food served at tables set right in the water, then take a stroll along the enchanting “Necklaces” and explore the mysterious Oziđana Cave.

The Falconry Center is a bird of prey rehabilitation facility – and the only one of its kind in Croatia. It’s located just 8 km from Šibenik, in the village of Dubrava.
Birds of prey have fascinated humans since ancient times, and falconry – the art of hunting with falcons – is as old as the world’s earliest civilizations. Come face to face with these magnificent birds and feel a true touch of the wild. Discover the secrets every falconer must know to live in harmony with the untamed spirit of nature.
Project leader Emilio Menđušić was awarded the "Ivo Horvat" Award by the Croatian Ministry of Culture in 2009, as well as the City of Šibenik Award in 2010 for outstanding contributions to nature conservation.
